On the instructions of DG Punjab Food Authority, Muhammad Asim Javed, the crackdown on food adulteration continues in Chiniot. Food safety teams are conducting operations across the district.
• Inspections carried out at 89 food points, including 46 milk-carrying vehicles.
• Several food outlets received corrective notices to improve standards.
• Fines totaling PKR 83,000 were imposed for serious violations of food laws.
• Meat shops were heavily fined for poor sanitation and failing to follow earlier directives.
• 5 kg of stale meat was seized and destroyed, the Food Authority spokesperson said.
• During inspections, over 1 kg of prohibited and expired items were seized from food points and destroyed.
• A sweets & bakery unit was fined for regulatory breaches; over 12 kg of substandard sweets were seized and destroyed.
Food safety teams remain active and focused on ensuring safe food supply. Continuous action will be taken against those involved in adulteration and fraud to bring them to justice.
