Chairman NADRA, Lt. Gen. Muhammad Munir Afzal, held an important meeting with Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi at the Ministry of Railways.
During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given on the integration of NADRA’s Pak App with Pakistan Railways’ communication application. The discussion included introducing a ticket purchasing and verification system linked with CNICs, which will help eliminate bogus ticketing and address multiple security issues.
Minister Hanif Abbasi highlighted that this system would not only benefit the Railways but also bring significant advantages to the country as a whole.
The two sides also discussed the introduction of a pension verification system in Railways. The initiative aims to ensure that only deserving pensioners receive payments, thereby eliminating fake pensions and saving the department from financial losses.
Railway officials briefed on the digital transformation measures undertaken over the past six months, including:

- Restoration of the Directorate of IT on modern lines
- Upgradation of the 117 Call Center to international standards
- Implementation of a Freight Management System to control overloading
- Installation of POS and ATM machines at railway stations
- Launch of AI-based Safe & Smart Railway Stations project to improve safety and security
- Progress on the Railways Advanced Infrastructure Network (RAIN) project, which will fiberize 1,700 kilometers of railway track

Chairman NADRA praised these digitization efforts and expressed NADRA’s keen interest in further collaboration with Pakistan Railways to enhance efficiency, security, and public service delivery
