The Punjab Food Authority has imposed fines totaling Rs. 104,000 on 11 food points during an inspection drive in Chiniot. In the operation, 90 food points and milk suppliers were inspected, and 4,200 liters of milk were checked. A large quantity of prohibited and expired food items was confiscated and destroyed. Fines were issued for poor cleanliness, improper storage, dirty freezers, and the use of rusted utensils. Inspecting teams also found open drains, unhygienic washing areas, foul odors, and the absence of mandatory records and employees’ medical certificates. Officials warned that food prepared with substandard ingredients poses serious health risks and stated that efforts are underway to ensure food preparation and delivery meet international safety standards.
