Report by Bureau Chief Punjab, Malik Maqsood Chinioti
Chiniot: In line with the vision of Maryam Nawaz Sharif, practical steps are being taken to promote community policing in Chiniot.
District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif set up an open court (Khuli Kachehri) at Jamia Masjid Ameer Hamza, Chiniot, on the occasion of Friday prayers to directly listen to public concerns.
On this occasion, the SHO of City Police Station, the Incharge Complaint Cell, and other police officers were also present.
DPO Dr. Naveed Atif listened to the problems of citizens and assured them of prompt resolution. Participants were also briefed about public-friendly police services and improved public service delivery initiatives being provided by the police department.
Speaking at the event, the DPO stated that listening to people’s issues in a mosque is in accordance with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). He added that the purpose of holding an open court in the mosque is to come directly to the people, hear their problems on the spot, and ensure their resolution.
He further urged citizens to report information related to social and moral evils, as well as criminal elements. The DPO emphasized that all available resources are being utilized to improve public service delivery.
Citizens were informed that they can report any issue, complaint, or information about criminal elements by calling the police helpline 15.
Local residents appreciated the initiative of organizing open courts in mosques and welcomed the community-focused policing approach.
