Islamabad (Asian Citizen News – Ijaz Shah):
Five years ago, in 2021, a video went viral on social media showing a young couple being assaulted and indecently recorded. Following the viral spread of the footage, the police registered a case and arrested Osman Mirza along with seven of his accomplices.
Despite the arrest, Osman Mirza, who was highly influential and financially powerful, managed to bribe the victims with PKR 20 million, forcing them to give statements in court that favored him. Within a few months, he was acquitted, and the case seemed to be closed.
However, the police did not give up. They pursued the case diligently, repeatedly seeking court orders to continue the trial. During this period, the viral video and other related footage were subjected to forensic analysis, including voice matching and identification of the faces of friends appearing in the videos. The forensic results confirmed the evidence, strengthening the case against Osman Mirza.
Armed with this evidence, the police re-arrested Osman Mirza and presented him in court. Based on the thorough investigation and irrefutable evidence, the court sentenced Osman Mirza and his accomplices to 25 years in prison.
Conclusion: This case demonstrates that if law enforcement pursues cases with honesty and diligence, delivering justice becomes significantly easier for the courts.
