Rawalpindi (Asia Citizen News – Ijaz Shah):
Serious questions have been raised over the alleged supply of substandard flour in local markets, after a vehicle reportedly linked to Al Qamar Flour Mill was seized during an enforcement operation in Rawalpindi.
According to available details, a Para Force team intercepted vehicle number RIS-1934 within the limits of R.A. Bazaar Police Station, where officials allegedly found flour said to be prepared from low-grade or contaminated material.
Following the operation, authorities reportedly initiated legal proceedings against those responsible, while the seizure has sparked public concern regarding flour quality standards in the city.
Residents and traders have questioned why such products were allegedly being distributed in the market, particularly through late-night transportation routes instead of regular daytime supply channels.
The matter has also raised concerns over regulatory oversight and market monitoring, with citizens demanding to know whether quality control checks were being properly enforced. Similar crackdowns on flour irregularities and illegal repackaging have previously taken place in Rawalpindi, highlighting the seriousness of the issue.
Public circles have urged the higher authorities to conduct a transparent investigation into all flour mills involved in the supply of allegedly unhygienic or substandard flour, especially where such stock is reportedly supplied to shopkeepers and tandoors.
Consumers and trader representatives have further demanded strict legal action, including permanent sealing of any mill found guilty after investigation, so that public health and food safety standards are fully protected.
