Chiniot (Report by Punjab Bureau Chief Malik Maqsood Chinioti):
In line with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s vision of “Safe Punjab,” the Safe City Project in District Chiniot has entered its final stages of completion.
During a detailed visit, District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif inspected the Safe City building, monitoring system, and ongoing construction work, reviewing the pace and quality of the project. According to officials, the initiative is now nearing full operational readiness.
Officials stated that the surveillance cameras have already become fully operational, while the remaining finishing work on the control and monitoring infrastructure is in its concluding phase. The system is expected to significantly strengthen real-time monitoring and emergency response capabilities across the district.
Speaking during the visit, DPO Dr. Naveed Atif said that modern features are also being integrated to ensure effective enforcement of traffic laws alongside city security, which will improve road discipline, automated monitoring, and rapid violation detection.
He further expressed confidence that the establishment of the Safe City system will lead to a further reduction in crime rates, faster police response, and a visible improvement in policing performance throughout Chiniot.
The Safe City Project is being viewed as a major step toward technology-driven policing, smarter traffic management, and enhanced citizen safety, bringing Chiniot closer to the standards of modern urban security infrastructure seen across Punjab.
