Chiniot: Food Safety Teams of the Punjab Food Authority (PFA) are continuing strict actions against elements posing threats to public health in Chiniot district.
According to the Punjab Food Authority spokesperson, 93 inspections were carried out across the district during ongoing operations. As a result of violations of food safety laws, fines totaling Rs. 50,000 were imposed on various food businesses.
Penalties were issued to meat shops and food points due to extremely poor cleanliness, improper storage arrangements, and inadequate pest control measures, the spokesperson added.
During inspections, rotten fruits and vegetables were recovered from several locations and were immediately disposed of on the spot to prevent public health risks.
In another action, based on laboratory analysis reports, a water sample failed quality standards, leading to the closure of a water plant located on Lahore Road until necessary improvements are made, according to the Punjab Food Authority.
Director General Punjab Food Authority Muhammad Asim Javed stated that Food Safety Teams are continuously working to ensure the provision of safe and quality food for the public across Punjab.
