Chiniot: According to the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, practical steps are being taken to promote community policing in the district.
District Police Officer (DPO) Dr. Naveed Atif organized an open court (Khuli Kachehri) at Jamia Masjid Bilal on Sargodha Road, Chiniot, on the occasion of Friday prayers. The initiative aimed to directly listen to the concerns of citizens and resolve their issues.
On this occasion, the SHO of City Police Station, the Incharge Complaint Cell, and other police officers were also present.
During the session, DPO Dr. Naveed Atif listened to the problems raised by the citizens and assured them that their issues would be addressed promptly. Participants were also briefed about citizen-friendly police services and the steps being taken to improve public service delivery.
Speaking on the occasion, the DPO said that listening to people’s problems in a mosque is in accordance with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (peace be upon him). He added that the purpose of holding open courts in mosques is to reach out to the public, hear their issues directly, and ensure their resolution.
He further urged citizens to inform the police about social and moral evils or criminal elements in their areas. The police department, he said, is utilizing all available resources to further improve public service delivery.
The DPO also advised citizens that they can report any problem, concern, or criminal activity by calling the police helpline 15.
Local residents appreciated the initiative of holding open courts in mosques and termed it a positive step toward strengthening the relationship between the police and the community.
