According to this report by Bureau Chief Punjab, Malik Maqsood Chinioti, a strict crackdown has been decided against the food safety violators in Chiniot on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.
On the special instructions of the Chief Minister of Punjab, the Punjab Food Authority has taken a unique initiative ahead of Eid. The Director General (DG) Food Authority has made a major announcement stating that field operations will continue without interruption during the Eid days.
Special Food, Meat, and Dairy Safety Teams have been formed to ensure the provision of safe food. During the Eid holidays, inspections will be carried out in three shifts. Field teams have been directed to remain on high alert throughout all three days of Eid and to respond immediately to public complaints.
According to the Food Authority spokesperson, along with food safety teams, all officers will actively participate in checking food items during the three days of Eid. Special teams have also been constituted to ensure continuous inspection of food points.
The Deputy Director Operations will monitor the performance of these teams. Before Eid, strict inspections are being conducted at sweets units, spice units, and carbonated drinks production units.
All food items, including milk, meat, vermicelli (sawaiyan), and other small and large consumables, will be thoroughly checked. During Eid holidays, inspections will also be ensured at parks, recreational spots, fast food points, and sweets shops.
The DG Food Authority has warned that production units and food outlets violating the law will be sealed immediately. He further stated that the supply of hygienic and safe food to citizens will be ensured during Eid-ul-Fitr.
