Chiniot (Report by Punjab Bureau Chief Malik Maqsood Chinioti):
Strict enforcement of the Punjab Government’s energy conservation policy and smart lockdown measures continues in Chiniot, as the district administration intensifies action against violators.
According to officials, joint operations by the district administration and Para Force are being carried out across the city to ensure compliance with prescribed business closing timings.
As per Para Force Incharge Muzammil Hussain and Madam Aneela, around 87% of business centers complied with the government directive and closed by 8:00 PM, while enforcement action was taken against those who failed to follow the rules.
During late-night raids in different areas, Para Force teams sealed 30 commercial outlets for continuing business operations beyond the permitted hours.
Authorities stated that fines are also being imposed on shopkeepers and hotel owners found violating the policy, and their premises are being de-sealed only after submission of affidavits ensuring future compliance.
Additional Commissioner General Wasiq Abbas Harl urged traders to cooperate with the district administration in implementing government policies, emphasizing that these measures are being taken in the larger national interest.
He further warned that violations of prescribed timings will not be tolerated under any circumstances, and that indiscriminate crackdowns will continue in the future to ensure energy conservation and full compliance with government directives.
The ongoing operation reflects the administration’s commitment to effective governance, energy management, and enforcement of public policies in Chiniot.
